MES and maintenance coordination

MES knows what production was doing when equipment stopped; maintenance systems know the work history and maintenance program. Connecting them can improve context on both sides.

Downtime-to-maintenance linkage

A significant equipment event can create or reference a maintenance request while retaining the production order, product and downtime context.

Maintenance state

MES can consume an equipment-not-available status from CMMS/EAM so dispatch avoids a resource under planned maintenance.

Work history ownership

Detailed maintenance work orders, parts and maintenance strategy normally belong in CMMS/EAM rather than being duplicated in MES.

Predictive maintenance

Condition-monitoring or analytics platforms may identify emerging issues. MES can add production context and help schedule action, but prediction models require validation and operational ownership.

MES terminology and boundaries vary among plants and vendors. Validate data ownership, safety impacts, interfaces and change control against your actual manufacturing architecture and approved procedures.
